The Aikane dress is a tribute to the beautiful Holoku dresses worn in the early 1900s. Captivated by lace, ruffles, sleeves & skirts worn by American ministers' wives, the Hawaiians adapted the missionary's dress patterns to Hawaiian lifestyle & culture -- creating the Holoku.
